Another effect that everybody can easily try out: 1 minute deep skiing squat (exercise no. 41, #GRFS21) at as high as possible frequencies – now what your heartbeat during the exercise: During the active training there will be no essential effect on the heartbeat, however in the 30 seconds directly after the exercise there will be a significant increase depending on how exhaustive the exercise was.
Why is that? Galileo Training can activate the muscle almost to their maximum – and a maximum activated muscle creates a contraction which blocks it’s own blood supply. The continuous activation/contraction of the muscles caused by Galileo causes a significant lack of oxygen in the muscle which then causes the vessel-surrounding muscles to relax. After the end of the Galileo Mechanostimulation the muscles relax and blood flow is possible again and the heartrate increases.
The group around Marco Toigo utilized this effect and increased it in athletes to increase endurance by using additional occlusion (by using a cuff) to block the blood flow of the leg completely (Blood-Flow Restriction Training, BFR) ( #GRFS12, #GRFS33, #GRFS86). But even without this extreme protocol exhaustive Galileo Training at high frequencies creates a massive effect on endurance capacity.
