METHODS: Community-dwelling women aged 71-87 years were recruited into this cross-sectional study. Physical function tests comprised the short physical performance battery (SPPB), grip strength and, if SPPB score>\/=6, JM. JM measured peak weight-adjusted power and force from two-footed jumps and one-legged hops respectively. Questionnaires assessed acceptability. RESULTS: 463 women were recruited; 37(8%) with SPPB6 were ineligible for JM. Of 426 remaining, 359(84%) were able to perform >\/=1 valid two-footed jump, 300(70%) completed >\/=1 valid one-legged hop. No adverse events occurred. Only 14% reported discomfort. Discomfort related to JM performance, with inverse associations with both power and force (p0.01). Peak power and force respectively explained 8% and 10% of variance in SPPB score (13% combined); only peak power explained additional variance in grip strength (17%). CONCLUSIONS: Peak power and force explained a significant, but limited, proportion of variance in SPPB and grip strength. JM represents a safe and acceptable clinical tool for evaluating lower-limb muscle power and force in older women, detecting distinct components of muscle function, and possibly sarcopenia, compared to those evaluated by more established measures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
OBJECTIVE: To determine the feasibility and acceptability of using peak power and force, measured by jumping mechanography (JM), to detect<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"tags":[],"thema":[5924,5866,5876,5888,5878,5894,5880,5856,5858],"produktgruppe":[5827],"literatur_kategorie":[7221],"class_list":["post-165546","literatur","type-literatur","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","thema-clinical-studies","thema-diagnostics-using-leonardo-pqct","thema-diseases","thema-geriatrics","thema-medical-applications","thema-osteoporosis","thema-pyhsitherapy-rehabilitation","thema-therapy-prevention-using-galileo","thema-training-with-galileo","produktgruppe-leonardo-en","literatur_kategorie-clinical-studies"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/literatur\/165546","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/literatur"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/literatur"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/22"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/literatur\/165546\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=165546"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=165546"},{"taxonomy":"thema","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/thema?post=165546"},{"taxonomy":"produktgruppe","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/produktgruppe?post=165546"},{"taxonomy":"literatur_kategorie","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stratec-med.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/literatur_kategorie?post=165546"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
